Awards, Awards, Awards!!

Posted on

Good morning everyone!

I had been wanting to start writing in a blog, hoping to inspire others for many years. When I decided to start Eat Breathe Yogini, I didn’t expect all the support that I have been getting from all of my readers. I for sure didn’t expect to be to nominated for any awards! I just want to say thank you for all your support. I hoped I have inspired you to eat healthier and be more active. We only get one body so we need to treat it well.

1. The lovely Miss Marzipan nominated me for the Liebster award. The Liebster award is give to up-and-coming bloggers with less than 200 followers. “Liebster” means “Beloved, Dearest, or Favorite” in German and the award is intended to chine a spotlight on blogs deserving some recognition. I’m going to follow Miss Marzpan’s layout on how she did this award.

Eleven random facts about me:

1. I love arts & crafts. I love making scrapbooks; they are a ton of work but so special to look back on.
2. I love going to school. I’m majoring in Child and Adolescent Development and graduating in Spring 2013! Woot woot! I will plan on getting my teaching credentials after and hopefully teach Kindergarten-2nd grade.
3. My boyfriend is one of the best people I know. He’s supportive, caring, and loving. We’re going on our 6 years. *blush*
4. I love to bake and experiment with new recipes.
5. I love playing board games. In fact, I bought a ton on black friday. My favorite game so far is one called HedBandz. (Disney Version, of course)
6. I am 23 and do not drink. I have not gotten drunk since I was 18 years old and stopped drinking at 19. I’ll have occasionally one drink but definitely not your typical 20-something year old. I’ve only been to the club once or twice. TBH, they give me major anxiety!
7. I have a fat sweet tooth. I’m trying to find more health alternatives for it…but fruit doesn’t satisfy it for me. Haha!
8. Dogs are my favorite animals. I very much dislike cats. =P
9. I want to try to get back into running. When I’m driving around and I see runners, they inspire me. They look so liberated!
10. When I buy my own house, I want to live out of the city. I want a simple life for me and my kids. Living in the city…kids are too worried about how they look and what they have. I don’t like that.
11. I hope to be a mom someday. =)

Questions from Miss Marzipan.
1. Colour or monochrome? Monochrome! I like everything looking clean and simple! I don’t much color either…except yoga/workout clothes. I love bright workout clothes.
2. Winter or summer? Winter. I love to layer clothes and dress warm. I love being under blankets and cuddle. I love soup. When I’m hot, I’m a little cranky and don’t like to touch. My make-up melts. I don’t like to sweat when I’m not working out.
3. Ready-made or homemade? Homemade is always better!
4. Chocolate or vanilla? MmmMm chocolate please!
5. Glass half empty or half full? Half full! It’s important to be optimistic in life.
6. Work or play? I love to work hard. Playing makes it more worth it.
7. Casual or formal? Both. Depending on the occasion. I love to dress up but I wouldn’t like to do it every day.
8. Ski lodge or tropical island? Tropical Island. Nothing like being at the beach with my pup.
9. Breakfast or dinner? Breakfast! Most important meal of the day.
10. TV or film? TV. My guilty pleasure is reality TV. I know, so bad. Yet so funny!
11. City or country? City for now…probably country later.

Thank god it’s Friday! + Reveal Day for Foodie Penpal!

So as many of you know, I’m currently in college right now. It’s the end of the semester and I am swamped with projects and essays! It’s always been my thing to get my work done a week or two ahead of time because I HATE STRESS! I don’t like to procrastinate. Why do it later when you can get it done now and get it out of the way? I have been on top of my game this semester but still..some essays have still snuck up on me. But no worries! I’m still pretty good at managing my time…I refuse to change my bedtime or pull an all nighter. Haha.

Today is the reveal day for the Foodie Penpal. Lindsay from The Lean Greenbean is the host of this program. Basically you sign up to be penpals with someone and on the 5th of the month, Lindsay will email you who your penpal is. You have until the 15th to send out your food packages to your penpal. The spending limit is $15. Everyone will blog about what they got from the penpal on the 30th.

This was my first time doing Foodie Penpal and I thought it was an excellent way to try other healthy foods from around the states. I was a bit confused on who my penpal was in the beginning because the person that gets you is NOT your penpal; you have another penpal. I’m from California and my penpal, Nikki, was from Pennsylvania.

Here’s a picture of everything that she sent me!

She sent me a container of Planter’s cocktail peanuts, Pria bar, Iron Girl PowerBar, dates, PowerBar energy bites, Bear Naked trail mix, lemon pepper tuna, and a cute ladybug timer! I’ve tried the bars, dates, energy bites, and trail mix and all were delicious! It was unfortunate that the tuna tore open and spilled everyone so I had to wash everything as best as I can so it wouldn’t all smell like tuna. Haha it’s all good though. I really enjoyed opening the package. I’ll definitely sign up to do this again…it’s exciting waiting for your package every month. And you get to connect with people that have the same interests as you do.

Check out Amanda’s blog, Romancing the Unusual, to see what I sent her this month! =)

If anyone else is interested in doing the Foodie Penpal, visit Lindsay’s blog. For the month of December, she is doing the FPP charity which asks people to donate the $15 dollars to the victims of Hurricane Sandy instead of the normal trade. The next sign-up for the penpal trade will be after December 18th. Sign up if you guys wanna be a part of this! =)

I have a Sweet Tomatoes review, Veggie Grill review, and a tofu recipe coming up so keep a lookout for those. =)

FOOD REVIEW: Bruxie Waffle Sandwiches – Anaheim, CA

Enter to win my ONE MONTH GIVEAWAY!!

As many of you know, my family and I were fortunate enough to visit Disneyland this past weekend. Before we went back home to the Bay Area, we decided to stop by at Bruxie. Bruxie is well-known eatery in Los Angeles/Orange County area. They specialize in gourmet waffles — savory and sweet! Some savory waffles included burgers, turkey club, pastrami, roast beef, cheese, and egg (breakfast) sandwiches. The sweet ones were with maple syrup, fruits, whipped cream, nutella, and more.I have never tried it before so I was really excited since I love my waffles! Boyfriend and I decided to split two kinds of sandwiches and waffle fries. The first was their cream and cheese and smoked salmon sandwich (lox). This sandwich included smoked salmon, dill cream cheese, and cucumbers. The second sandwich was roasted mushroom. This sandwich consisted of roasted mushrooms, arugula, goat cheese, and balsamic vinegar.

Both sandwiches were delicious. If I were to go back, I would definitely get the roasted mushroom sandwich. The mushroom sandwich had great flavors and blended wonderfully together. The smoked salmon was a little two salty for me and I got tired of the creaminess in the cheese quick. I wish that the waffles were warmer and crispier. The waffles were soft and room temperature by the time we got our food. It’s understandable because the place was crowded and they would have to make the waffles ahead of time. The price was right! The mushroom cost about 7$ and the lox cost about $9. They gave a bunch of smoked salmon though. I know most places when you get lox, they tend to skimp on the salmon. The waffle fries were PERFECT. Crispy, hot, and tasty!

I give this place a 8/10. I would definitely be back to try some more, especially those sweet ones! I would highly recommend you guys try this place out if you’re around the Los Angeles area. =)
